Welcome

I am a warm, compassionate individual and my counselling style is both person-centred and trauma-informed.  I also integrate a variety of other counselling approaches, thus enabling me to be alongside you in a manner that allows you to feel fully heard and valued.  I believe in, and respect your inherent strength and resources, whilst also seeking to understand your struggles.

People seek counselling for a wide variety of reasons. Perhaps you are feeling anxious, depressed or isolated.  You may have suffered a loss, illness, or feel stuck, helpless and unable to find a way out.  I am also open to working specifically with issues around miscarriage or infant loss, infertility and rainbow pregnancies, as well as adoption or adoptive parenting.  My role as your counsellor is to support you in finding a way to navigate these difficult or painful experiences.

Why choose individual counselling…

When life feels hard it is natural to lose belief in yourself and feel alone.  I believe that everyone deserves, and needs, human connection and this is where counselling can be hugely beneficial.  I offer a relationship where you can experience empathy and compassion without feeling judged.  Whatever stage you are at in your life, counselling can be a useful space to explore your past, present, or hopes for the future, in a way that nurtures your well-being and unique potential.

I offer an initial 15 minute telephone discussion to give me the opportunity to understand your needs and determine if I might be a good fit as your counsellor.  It also gives you chance to experience how it feels to talk with me, and to decide if counselling seems like the right choice for you.  Counselling  then takes place weekly and can be face to face, online, or a mixture of both.  I offer a safe and welcoming space where the trust we build can enable you to re-establish connection with yourself and others.

I generally advise a minimum of 6-8 sessions to allow you to settle in and feel comfortable to explore your experience with me.  Beyond this, I offer short-term or open-ended therapy, depending on what feels best for you.  This would be agreed, and regularly discussed, between us.  It is important to me that we move at a pace which feels safe and ethical.

Why choose couples counselling…

Couples come to therapy for a variety of reasons.  You may be experiencing conflict, relationship breakdown, feeling distant from one another, or simply that something is not as you would like it to be with your relationship.  Alternatively, you may wish to come together to begin to process issues relating to, but not limited to, bereavement, infertility, miscarriage, parenting or adoptive parenting which affect you both.

My couples work focuses on the relationship between you, enabling you to communicate openly with one another in a way that feels respectful of your unique relationship. I work inclusively and warmly welcome all couples.

Couples counselling takes place weekly, in person (I do not offer online work with couples).  I offer an introductory  session for you to experience how it might feel to work with me, and for us to discuss in more detail about your hopes for counselling, before you make any commitment to continue.   Beyond this, the work is open-ended (unless you wish to discuss a specific time frame) to ensure that you have the opportunity to continue working with me for as long as you feel you need.
