Do you struggle with anxiety, stress or phobias? Are you terrified of the dentist or scared to take a flight? Does the thought of speaking in public make you want to run for hills, except you’re afraid of heights? Would you like to stop smoking or lose weight?
Cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy can help with all of these and more.
Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (Hypno-CBT) is an integration of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and hypnotherapy. My training incorporates CBT, hypnosis, relaxation skills, coaching and mindfulness. I trained at the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy in London on a course approved by the British Psychological Society for registered psychologists. The techniques I use are evidence-based – scientists have studied their use and found them to be effective.
How can Hypno-CBT help?
The focus is on one issue at a time and clients come to me for help with problems such as:
• Anxiety of all kinds, including social anxiety
• Public speaking anxiety
• Habits such as nail biting or skin picking
• Exam nerves
• Weight loss
• Stop smoking
I have extra specialist training in helping people to stop smoking and insomnia.
Therapy is bespoke – designed for the individual client, drawing on a range of techniques. A course of five or six sessions is usually required, making Hypno-CBT a very cost-effective therapy. Smoking cessation involves a single two-hour session with a follow-up session two to three weeks later if required.
Success in sport is not just about physical skill. The mind also plays and important part. Hypno-CBT can help to improve sports performance using techniques such as visualisation and developing mental resilience and determination.
