I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and I specialise in working with adults of all ages who are living with long-term physical health conditions. When we experience a change in our physical wellbeing, this can often lead to significant life adjustments and have an impact on our psychological wellbeing too. It is common to experience feelings of loss, low mood, anxiety, and sometimes trauma in response to a medical diagnosis. I have worked across a range of NHS medical settings to support people to better understand the relationship between their mind and body, and to adjust to the challenges and uncertainties that can accompany a long-term health problem.
Some of the difficulties that I can help with include:
Chronic pain conditions, including CRPS, Fibromyalgia, Migraine, Endometriosis
ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Post-viral Fatigue and Post-COVID syndrome
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS)
Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS)
Neurological Conditions
Functional Neurological Disorders
‘Unexplained’ physical symptoms
Respiratory Illnesses e.g. COPD
Diabetes type 1 and 2
Weight management problems
Stress, anxiety and insomnia
manage their physical and psychological wellbeing.
I aim to provide a warm, non-judgmental, and supportive space in which my clients can feel safe to explore their difficulties and make changes. My main therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which is recommended for many common health difficulties. I also integrate other evidence-based approaches into my practice, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
