My name is Dr. Jennifer Godding. I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist specialising in work with children and young people and their families. I also work with young adults between the ages of 18-25 years.

My areas of expertise include child and family work, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, self harm, depression and self-esteem problems as well as providing support to parents in managing young children’s anxiety.

I use a variety of evidence based and National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommended therapies in my work including: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT-A), and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).

I am experienced in understanding and developing personalised formulations for my clients difficulties. I use integrative approaches to therapy where appropriate, bringing together different elements of specific therapies to suit individual needs. I am committed to helping the young people with whom I work, particularly in these challenging times of COVID-19. I especially value the opportunity to play a role in supporting young people to make changes which may benefit their future lives.

I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Southampton in 2009 and have since worked for the NHS in local CAMHS services for 13 years. I hold a BA in Applied Psychology (University of Sussex, 2003) and a Post graduate Diploma in Evidence Based Psychological Therapies for Children and Young People (University of Reading, 2014). I am committed to ongoing continuous professional development to ensure that I remain up to date with research and  new evidence based  approaches to therapy. I have co-authored a book on the treatment of body image disturbance (Bell & Rushforth, 2006).

I am an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) certified practitioner (PYL 20416).
